NVH participated in the Northwoods Rumble Tournament Fundraiser, hosted by Women’s Premier Fastpitch and Wisconsin Outlawz at the Hodag Dome. All event proceeds were generously donated to NVH! Spectators contributed cash and Easter basket raffle items, and we built strong new relationships. We also launched our first Facebook Live, which was a great success. A conversation with tournament president Terry Wagner highlighted his excitement about future collaborations with NVH.
NVH participated in the Up North Community Expo on March 7 at the Rhinelander Hodag Dome. We connected with many wonderful people who supported our mission and shared their enthusiasm for NVH's vision. Attendees were eager to view the video rendering of the NVH Community Center by architect Jeff Musson and the scale model of a tiny home created by board member Peter Carlson, both of which received overwhelming approval.

NVH partnered with Ponsse North America and the Sokaogon Chippewa Community to clear the property for the tiny home village for homeless veterans. Chairman Robert VanZile Jr. blessed the land in Ojibwe and shared an English translation. Ponsse demonstrated the capabilities of three forest machines while clearing the site, drawing interest from customers and potential buyers. The event was covered by WJFW and WSAW.

Ruck N' St. Germain was a heartwarming event filled with live music, a cookout, and raffles in support of the Vilas and Oneida County Veteran Service Offices and the Local Honor Guard. NVH's own Carla and Ace enthusiastically participated in the Ruck. Thank you to everyone who made this day of community and camaraderie so memorable!
The Forest County Poker Run, hosted by Jameson's 1930 Inn, was a tremendous success, raising $1,500 in support of NVH. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this incredible event!
The Northwoods Veterans Homestead proudly exhibited in the 2024 Rhinelander 4th of July Parade with a vibrant float showcasing flags from all US military branches. Our volunteers had a fantastic time meeting parade attendees and celebrating the dedication and sacrifices of our veterans. The community's enthusiastic applause and support made it a memorable event for everyone involved.
Gordy Edington addressed a group from Holy Family Catholic Church in Minocqua, WI, sharing the mission of Northwoods Veterans Homestead. His presentation highlighted the dedication and support NVH provides to veterans, which resonated deeply with attendees and strengthened the community’s sense of gratitude.
On August 8, Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff hosted a Bingo Bash, drawing over 100 enthusiastic players. The event featured Bingo, a 50/50 drawing, a record number of raffle baskets, and a variety of delicious cookies and beverages. Proceeds from the event benefited Northwoods Veterans Homestead. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Holy Family Catholic Church for their generous support.
On September 21, Twin Pines hosted the first annual cornhole tournament, coordinated by Cindy Carroll and Mike Ring from CLC Payroll, Accounting, and Tax Services, LLC. Thanks to over 50 generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and players who contributed $300 from their social rounds, the event raised over $7,000.
A special thank you to Mother Nature for perfect weather, allowing the tournament to finish just before a storm rolled in. We exceeded our goal of 20 teams and are already planning next year’s tournament with a goal to raise 10% more. Stay tuned for details!
The Run for Our Heroes 5K brought together participants of all ages to support veterans and raise funds for Northwoods Veterans Homestead. The event featured a 5K race, an opening ceremony, and awards for top finishers. It was a great success, fostering community spirit and raising vital funds for veteran support programs. The 3rd Annual Pig Roast was a huge success, raising significant funds to support our mission. Pit Master Dusty Warner delivered an unforgettable feast, and 2 Miles South kept the crowd energized with live entertainment.
With 280 meals sold and 28 dedicated volunteers, the event showcased growing community support. A big thank you to Cabaret Cove, Dusty Warner, 2 Miles South, our sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who attended to make the event unforgettable.
Carla and Sandy had the honor of representing us at the Packers Give Back Event in Green Bay, WI, where they enjoyed a delicious lunch, live entertainment, and connected with key figures from the Packers organization.
The highlight of the day was receiving a generous donation from the Packers Give Back Foundation to support our mission serving local veterans, community outreach, and education. We are deeply grateful for this incredible opportunity and the continued support from the Packers.
