Twin Pines Cornhole Tournament: A Successful First Year and Exciting Plans Ahead!

On September 21st, Twin Pines hosted our first annual cornhole tournament. Cindy Carroll and Mike Ring from CLC Payroll, Accounting, and Tax Services, LLC, coordinated the event. We extend our deepest thanks to the more than 50 businesses and individuals who donated raffle items—without your contributions, this event would not have been possible.

We would also like to express our gratitude to all the wonderful volunteers who came out to help. Your hard work is invaluable. A big thank you as well to all the players who contributed $300 from their social rounds to NVH.

Lastly, but certainly not least, we want to thank Mother Nature. She timed the weather perfectly, allowing us to enjoy a dry and beautiful tournament. Just as the final bracket was finishing up, a black cloud rolled in, and all the volunteers jumped into action, packing everything up in record time. It was amazing!

As with any first-time event, we weren’t sure how it would go, but we’re thrilled to say we met our goal of 20 teams and raised just over $7,000.

Plans are already underway for next year’s tournament, with the goal of surpassing this year’s success by 10%. Please watch for more details in the spring.

Fundraising Highlights

On Friday, September 27th, Carla traveled to Mercer to receive one of three donations from the Women’s Auxiliary of Mercer.

The funds were raised through a 5k run hosted during their 4th of July celebration this past summer.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Women’s Auxiliary for their generous donation and congratulate both the Mercer VFW and the Mercer Veterans Memorial Park for also receiving donations.

Baldwin: Over $4.2 Million in Retroactive Benefits for Misdiagnosed Veterans at VA

U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin announced that over 100 veterans, misdiagnosed at the Tomah VA Medical Center, will receive more than $4.2 million in retroactive benefits. These veterans were wrongly diagnosed by Dr. Mary Jo Lanska, leading to the denial of their rightful compensation. After Baldwin’s advocacy, the VA re-examined the cases and restored benefits. For more details on the investigation and benefits process, you can read the full article below.
